Japanese Day Friday 30th October
Please click on ‘Kawaii culture’ to learn more about what this means
On Friday, students are asked to dress up as anything Japanese with a focus on the word Kawaii. Kawaii in Japanese means cute. It is a big part of their culture. Students will be taking part in different arts and cultural lessons on Friday.
No Bike Ed this week
Week 3
We ended the week with a Year 4 assembly…. We really do have a fantastic group of students who enjoy spending time as a whole year level.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the University of New South Wales exams. A fantastic effort. A special mention goes to Hamish Agg who achieved a High Distinction in his English exam.
Well done to our flute players who performed to the whole year level. It is very gutsy to do this and I congratulate them on their confidence. Well done!
Week 2 – BUSY BUSY
We have had a busy but very productive second week. A few things worth mentioning are:
- Our student teacher Eliza who has been with us for some time, has finished up today. She is in her second year of studying Teaching. Eliza has been a great assistant in the classroom and has been a great connection with the kids. They are all sad to say good bye to her.
- We have been studying decimals and particularly adding decimals. There is a cool rap which has helped us to remember some important rules. Ask your child to sing the rap!
- Life Education this week – we have learnt more about our bodies with a particular focus on our circulatory and digestive system. Students have talked about healthy food options and how drinks like energy drinks can contain up to 23 times per caffeine than coke!
- Haemophilia Week – today we have celebrated and raised awareness for this cause. Students today created a mind map of the main areas of this illness. We read and looked up fact sheets and then had to summarise the main parts, We hope we raised a lot of money for this excellent cause.
- Bike Ed – this was our first week. We mainly checked our bikes in preparation for more riding next week. A big thanks to Irene’s parents for helping out.
- A special mention to Hamish and his recent achievements… He received a High Distinction in his UNSW English Exam. Well done and we are proud of all students who participated. It is a pretty big deal and I commend the kids who spent their lunch time sitting this exam. Certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
Thanks!
Miss Harvey
